There is an old saying that if you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything. Being a leader to a large degree is about taking a stand. Leaders take a stand for different things. Some things leaders could take a stand for are: being accountable, doing your best, focusing on results, trying new things, don’t limit yourself to the status quo.
When a leader takes a stand they are in essence saying this is something I value strongly. When you value something strongly, you will not waver in your insistence. This is not a matter about right and wrong, but a matter about values.
The question to ask yourself is: what values do I live my life by? When you can answer this question, you can begin to develop your core values. Core values are the guidelines you make for yourself and are committed to following. Your core values should be an expression of who you are.
When you have identified your core values it makes decision making easier. The first question you ask is what is in harmony with my core values. Starting from this viewpoint can make the rest of the decision making process easier and you can make a decision with more confidence.
If you don’t have a define set of core values, make it a priority to develop them. Be sure to write them down. You’ll find additional clarity as you meditate and think about what your core values look like in action. Visualize using your core values in making decisions and living life every day. When you do you’ll find other people will be view you as someone who is a leader. ZHZG3632NDPC
